What Happened on The Bachelorette Tonight?
Jenn and her 18 suitors have arrived in Melbourne, Australia, to continue their journey for love. Jenn is excited to see her "very, very hot" men, who have just landed at Tullamarine Airport. Aaron Erb, already causing a scene, needs to put his shirt back on in public.
Group Date at Queen Victoria Market
The first group date includes Sam “Love Virgin” N., Marvin, Brian, Jonathan, Aaron Erb, Grant, Jeremy, and Devin. They meet Jenn at the Queen Victoria Market for a food-centric outing. The men try Vegemite and “desert oyster shots,” which contain kangaroo meatballs. Sam N. refuses to try the cheese due to his dairy intolerance, making him worry about falling behind in the competition.
Devin pulls Jenn away for a private moment, causing tension among the other men. Aaron Erb feels disrespected and expresses his frustration, while Jeremy suggests they take Jenn back from Devin. Despite the awkwardness, Jenn appreciates Devin's initiative to create special moments with her.
Comedy Show Challenge
Jenn and her suitors attend a comedy show, where comedian Bec Charlwood roasts the men and challenges them to write and perform their own "zingers." Devin goes first, criticizing the other men for focusing on each other instead of Jenn. Many men use their stage time to insult Devin, with Aaron Erb calling him the “budget Pete Davidson.”
At the afterparty, Aaron Erb continues to confront Devin about stealing Jenn during the date. Devin remains calm and focused on Jenn, while Aaron Erb's persistence starts to appear as a tactic for more camera time. Jenn, although uncomfortable with the tension, kisses Devin.
Marcus's One-on-One Date
Marcus, the Army Ranger, goes on the first one-on-one date of the season, which involves skydiving. Despite her fear of heights, Jenn overcomes her anxiety with Marcus’s support. They both enjoy the experience, feeling a strong connection growing.
At dinner, Marcus opens up about his traumatic final deployment, during which he was severely injured by a grenade. His story touches Jenn deeply, and she gives him the date rose, appreciating his vulnerability and courage.
Wildlife Photo Shoot
The second group date involves a wildlife photo shoot with animals like a lace monitor lizard, barn owl, sugar gliders, and a black-headed python. Hakeem struggles with his fear of spiders but bravely faces the challenge, while Dylan's kindness during the shoot earns him a one-on-one dinner with Jenn.
At dinner, Dylan shares his parents' love story and his own insecurities in the competition. Jenn appreciates his vulnerability and gives him the date rose, feeling more connected to him.
Cocktail Party Drama
The cocktail party begins with Devin stealing Jenn away first, despite earlier agreements. This causes tension among the men, especially Thomas N., who confronts Devin about breaking their pact. Jenn intervenes, frustrated by the men's attempts to control her decisions.
Aaron Erb continues to confront Devin, now involving a self-help book supposedly written by "Dr. Brandon O. Conner," which seems to be non-existent. This gesture comes off as condescending, further escalating the conflict.
Jenn grows increasingly frustrated with the ongoing drama, especially with Thomas N. for putting her in an awkward position. She reminds the men that they should not be making decisions on her behalf, asserting her independence in the process.
The episode ends with tensions high among the men, especially between Devin and Aaron Erb. Jenn, while dealing with the drama, continues to seek genuine connections and navigate the challenges of finding love on her journey.
The Bachelorette
The twenty-first season of The Bachelorette premiered on July 8, 2024, featuring 26-year-old Jennifer "Jenn" Tran from Hillsdale, New Jersey. Jenn is a physician assistant student who previously finished in fifth place on the 28th season of The Bachelor with Joey Graziadei. Notably, she is the first Asian-American lead in the history of the Bachelor franchise.
On March 25, 2024, Jenn was announced as the new Bachelorette by the previous lead, Charity Lawson, during the After the Final Rose special of The Bachelor. Alongside Jenn, her fellow season 28 castmates Daisy Kent and Maria Georgas were also considered for the role.
This season features some notable contestants, including Aaron Erb, the twin brother of Noah Erb from season 16 and Bachelor in Paradise 7, and Caleb "Moze" Smith, a player for the Iowa Barnstormers in the Indoor Football League.
Filming for the season began on March 28, 2024, at the Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Santa Susana, California, the same location used for The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart. This marks the first season since season 18 that did not start at the traditional Bachelor mansion in Agoura Hills, California. In April 2024, the show filmed in several locations in Seattle, Washington, including Chihuly Garden and Glass, Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square, and the Space Needle.
The season also includes visits to Melbourne, Australia, and Auckland, New Zealand, with filming wrapping up in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, in mid-May.
Who went Home on The Bachelorette Tonight?
During the rose ceremony, Jenn sent three men home:
- Sam “Love Virgin” N. – Despite his initial excitement and the unique “love virgin” status, Sam N. didn't manage to form a strong enough connection with Jenn.
- Hakeem – Although he bravely faced his fear of spiders during the wildlife photo shoot, Hakeem did not receive a rose.
- Brian – Despite participating in the group dates and making efforts to connect with Jenn, Brian ultimately did not receive a rose and was sent home.
