Who will win the NHL Top Awards this Season?
To know who wins the NHL Top Awards this Season we have to wait as it is still unannounced. But there are predictions about the winners. Nathan MacKinnon from Colorado, Nikita Kucherov from Tampa Bay, Connor McDavid from Edmonton, and Auston Matthews from Toronto are all competing for the NHL MVP award, known as the Hart Trophy.
MacKinnon led the Avalanche into the playoffs despite having a team that relies heavily on a few key players. Kucherov has been involved in scoring half of the Lightning's goals. McDavid helped the Oilers recover from a bad start to the season. Matthews is close to breaking a record by possibly becoming the first player in over 30 years to score 70 goals in a single season.

NHL Awards
The National Hockey League gives out many awards and trophies every year to honor its teams and players. The oldest and most famous one is the Stanley Cup. It has been awarded since 1893 to the NHL's playoff champion. At first, the Stanley Cup was used as a trophy for different leagues to compete for.
Before the NHL started awarding the Stanley Cup as its championship trophy, there were two other trophies used. For the first nine years of the NHL's existence, the Stanley Cup was actually a challenge cup that different leagues competed for.
The NHL presents most of its trophies and all-star selections at a yearly awards ceremony, typically held in late June after the Stanley Cup playoffs end. For the 2019–20 season, the awards were given out during the last two rounds of the playoffs.
NHL Awards History
The NHL's original championship trophy was the O'Brien Trophy. It was made by the National Hockey Association in 1910 and then taken over by the NHL in 1918. From 1918 to 1923, it was given to the playoff champion. The O'Brien Trophy was replaced by the Prince of Wales Trophy in 1924. This new trophy was the league's championship until the Western Hockey League ended after the 1926 season. After that, the Stanley Cup belonged solely to the National Hockey League.
The Prince of Wales Trophy is still given out as an award. It goes to the playoff champion of the Eastern Conference. The Clarence S. Campbell Bowl, made in 1967, is given to the Western Conference champion. The Presidents' Trophy, which started in 1986, is given to the NHL's regular season champion.
The first individual trophy in the NHL was the Hart Trophy, given in 1924 to the most valuable player. The Lady Byng Trophy came next in 1925, awarded to the player who showed sportsmanship. Two years later, the Vezina Trophy was made for the best goaltender. Then, in 1965, the Conn Smythe Trophy was introduced for the playoff MVP. Currently, the NHL has 17 individual trophies and awards. The newest one is the Mark Messier Leadership Award, first given in 2007.
