Why is Domino Not in Deadpool 3?

Domino was played by Zazie Beetz in Deadpool 2 and the character has been missing from Deadpool 3. While most of the Deadpool and Deadpool 2 cast appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine, Domino was noticeably absent. Domino is not in Deadpool 3 may be because of budget constraints. The character was nowhere to be seen and one can assume that if she had appeared in the film, it would have been in a similar capacity as the rest of the Deadpool family.

In Deadpool 2, Zazie Beetz’s character had a significant role, appearing in majority of the film and in most of the marketing leading up to its release. Assuming her paycheck in Deadpool & Wolverine would have been a reason why she was not cast for the third film.

Domino's Absence Explained

While the absence of Beetz may surprise many seeing the movie for the first time, the actress confirmed she would not be back in 2023.

She told she was "actually not in Deadpool 3".

"Well I’m actually not in 'Deadpool 3,' so I don’t know what they’re doing [about improvisation]. I’m assuming they’re probably taking a pause. […] I’m excited to watch it."

In 2021, she posited "would love to reprise the role" and had an interest in working out "a way to make a Domino movie or something like that"

About Deadpool 3, the actress said, "No, I haven’t [heard about Domino's return]. I would love to revive the role. That was always in the world of what was potentially going to happen. I haven’t had any specific conversations around it. But I’m interested. Not only would I love to revive the role, I would love to figure out a way to make a Domino movie or something like that. We’ll see what happens, but I haven’t had any personal conversations."

Deadpool 2 set us up for adventures with Wade Wilson and Domino. But Domino was nowhere to be found in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Domino in Deadpool

Domino (real name Neena Thurman) is one of the three tritagonists of the film Deadpool 2. She is a mutant mercenary who has powers of luck and probability manipulation, and is a member of X-Force. She joins the team of Deadpool to fight against the Headmaster and the Juggernaut and help Deadpool.

She is portrayed by Zazie Beetz who played Diane Foxington in The Bad Guys. Domino grew up in Essex House for Mutant Rehabilitation. She first appeared as one of the new recruits for X-Force, the team Deadpool tries to protect Russell Collins from Cable. Due to her powers, Deadpool was incredulous and allowed her to join the team.

Domino continues to assist Wade and ultimately helps liberate the orphanage where she was tortured as a child.

Deadpool & Wolverine Plot

In 2018, Wade Wilson used Cable's time-traveling device to travel from Earth-10005 to Earth-616, the "Sacred Timeline". There he meets Happy Hogan and requests to join the Avengers, but gets rejected. Six years later, Wade retires from being the masked mercenary known as Deadpool and works as a used-car salesman with his friend Peter Wisdom. He also breaks up with his girlfriend Vanessa Carlysle. In his birthday party, the Time Variance Authority (TVA) captures Wade and brings him to Mr. Paradox, who offers him place on Earth-616. However, Paradox reveals that Wade's timeline is deteriorating.

Paradox tells about his plan to use the "Time Ripper", a device he developed to kill timelines, to destroy Wade's timeline. Wade steals Paradox's TemPad and digs up Logan's grave. When he fails to resurrect Logan, Wade uses the TemPad to travel in the multiverse and find a variant of Logan to save his timeline.
