Why is Notre Dame Not in a Conference?
In the early 1990s, the Fighting Irish were ahead of other teams. They didn't join a group to sell TV rights to their games. Instead, they made a deal with NBC to show their home games. This deal is still in place today. Because of their big name, Notre Dame can tell NBC what they want. This means they have more control over their games than other teams.
Notre Dame is not part of a conference, so they can play games against strong teams from different groups. They can play teams like USC, Ohio State, and Clemson. What Conference is Notre Dame in?
