Why are Destiny 2 Servers Down?
Destiny 2 servers need maintenance to ensure a smooth launch. During normal launches, over 100,000 players try to access the game on Steam simultaneously, which can stress the servers. During expansions, this number can reach half a million, leading to delays and extended downtime.
Currently, Destiny 2 servers will undergo maintenance lasting 3 hours and 15 minutes across all regions. The servers will be back online for the Episode Echoes launch at 10 am PT, UTC -7.

Activision published the game until December 31, 2018, when Bungie took over publishing. It's the sequel to Destiny, which came out in 2014, and its expansions.
