FFXIV Https System Error
The "FFXIV HTTPS System Error" occurs when there are problems connecting to the game's servers, often seen during the launch of new updates or expansions like Dawntrail. This error can happen due to high server traffic, causing congestion and making it difficult for players to log in.
Final Fantasy XIV, like other live-service games and MMOs, experiences these issues, especially on busy launch days. To fix this error, players can try restarting the launcher, checking their internet connection, or waiting for server congestion to lessen. Sometimes, updating the game launcher or ensuring it has the right permissions on your computer can also help resolve the issue.
How to Fix FFXIV Launcher Https System Error?
Understanding the HTTPS System Error
When starting the FFXIV launcher, you might find it slow to load the login and password fields. This delay can lead to a timeout and a pop-up message indicating a HTTPS system error with a string of numbers.
Solution for Expansion Launch Days
If you encounter this error on an expansion launch day, the best solution is to keep restarting the launcher and trying again until you get through. Many players, including myself, faced this issue multiple times but eventually managed to log in by persistently restarting the launcher.
Solution for Regular Days
On regular days with less server traffic, the issue might be related to your internet connection or DNS settings. Adjusting these settings could help resolve the problem. Check your internet connection and configure your DNS settings if necessary.
Waiting for Server Load to Decrease
If you’re not in a hurry to play, consider waiting a few hours for the server load to decrease before trying again.

Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy XIV is a big online role-playing game made by Square Enix. Directed by Naoki Yoshida, it came out in August 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Windows, later for PlayStation 4, macOS, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It is set in Eorzea, five years after a disaster called the Seventh Umbral Calamity.
The game replaces a failed 2010 version. In the story, the primal Bahamut caused the Calamity by escaping from an ancient space station. The player character uses magic to escape and reappears in the new game, helping to fight the Garlean Empire.
The original game failed, so a new team led by Yoshida fixed it and made Version 2.0. This new version had better graphics, servers, and gameplay. It was praised and helped Square Enix recover financially. By October 2021, the game had over 24 million players and became the most profitable Final Fantasy game. It has four major expansions, with a fifth, Dawntrail, coming in July 2024.
Final Fantasy XIV Gameplay
Final Fantasy XIV is an MMORPG where players can interact with each other in a persistent world. Players create and customize their characters, choosing their name, race, gender, facial features, and starting class. Initially, players can only choose classes from the Disciple of War or Magic categories.
Players must also select a game server, with data centers in North America, Europe, Japan, and Oceania to reduce lag. The game has a unified interface for PC, macOS, and consoles, with options for keyboard, mouse, and controller use. Players progress by gaining experience points (EXP) from quests, dungeons, and battles.
The game also includes large-scale events called FATEs and various PvP modes. Players can form parties to tackle difficult content, and teamwork is essential. Characters can switch classes by changing weapons, and there are special jobs for advanced skills. The in-game economy is player-driven, with items sold through NPC retainers. Crafting and gathering systems have been refined for better gameplay.
Final Fantasy XIV Plot
Final Fantasy XIV is set in the world of Hydaelyn, mainly in the region of Eorzea, which has diverse landscapes and four main city-states: Gridania in a dense forest, Ul'dah in a desert, Limsa Lominsa on a coastal island, and Ishgard in snowy mountains.
Eorzea is connected by a land bridge to two other continents that the Garlean Empire has mostly conquered. There are also other societies, like the Sylphs and Kobolds, and the city of Sharlayan. The region of Ala Mhigo was taken over by the Garlean Empire twenty years ago. Eorzea’s history includes peaceful "Astral" eras and troubled "Umbral" eras caused by major disasters.
The Seventh Umbral Calamity was caused by the Garlean Empire's attempt to use the moon Dalamud as a weapon. Despite the Alliance’s efforts to stop it, Dalamud crashed and released the primal dragon Bahamut, causing widespread destruction. The adventurers were sent through time to prepare for future battles while the Empire faced its own internal crisis.
