Summary
Ayumu Fujino is a talented elementary school student who loves drawing manga. She starts publishing her comics in the school newspaper and gains praise for her skills. But then, another student named Kyomoto begins drawing manga too, and Ayumu feels threatened because Kyomoto is better. Ayumu becomes obsessed with beating Kyomoto and spends all her time trying to improve her art. She ignores her friends and family in the process.
Ayumu still can't meet Kyomoto's high standards and gives up drawing. Years later, Ayumu learns that Kyomoto is a recluse who never left her house. When Ayumu visits her, she discovers that Kyomoto is actually a huge fan of her manga. This surprises Ayumu, who thought Kyomoto disliked her. They become friends and start creating manga together. Ayumu's manga became really popular and even was turned into an anime.
However, tragedy strikes when Kyomoto is involved in a terrible incident at an art college. Feeling guilty, Ayumu tries to change the past by tearing up an old comic she drew about Kyomoto. Through a strange twist, Ayumu realizes that Kyomoto admired her all along, even though their paths diverged. Ayumu decides to keep drawing manga, inspired by Kyomoto's unwavering support.
