Sam revealed that in order to stave off the cancer, he has been using a unique experimental medication. He has had great results with this medication, but the doctors have cautioned that these results may not last. He's not scared of dying, yet he's ready for that possibility. Rather, the thought irritates him since he still has a ton of things he wants to do.

Sam started chemotherapy as soon as he was diagnosed, but it was only effective for three months. After that, he changed to an uncommon anti-cancer medication, which enabled him to enter remission. He has been cancer-free for a year, but in order to prevent cancer, he still needs infusions every two weeks.

'Did I Ever Tell You This,' the book Sam authored while he was receiving treatment, was the first to discuss his battle with cancer. Although his disease received a lot of attention, he pointed out that the most noteworthy aspect of his tale is that he is currently in remission and doing well. Sam is eager for what lies ahead because of his optimistic outlook and tenacity, which have helped him get through this difficult period.
