Recent reports have confirmed that Prime Video has acquired the streaming rights for Stree 2. While the exact release date on the platform hasn’t been announced yet, it is expected that the film might be available on Prime Video around September. Fans should for the official release announcement from the makers as the OTT release is yet to be confirmed.

Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank is a Hindi comedy horror film released in 2024. Directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhatt, it is produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios. This film is the fifth entry in the Maddock Supernatural Universe and follows up on the 2018 hit Stree.

The movie stars Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. Director Amar Kaushik first mentioned the idea for a sequel in October 2018, and by February 2022, Rajkummar Rao confirmed that the project was underway.

Although the original writers and producers were no longer involved, Niren Bhatt took over as the writer. The sequel was officially announced in April 2023, with filming starting in July 2023 and wrapping up in mid-2024. The film features music by Sachin–Jigar and Justin Varghese, cinematography by Jishnu Bhattacharjee, and editing by Hemanti Sarkar.

Stree 2 Plot

In Stree 2, the town of Chanderi is haunted once more after the events of Stree, but this time by a frightening headless entity. Women in the town start disappearing mysteriously, creating panic and fear. Vicky and his friends return to confront this new supernatural threat. They must come together to protect their town and loved ones from the terror of the headless being. The film follows their brave efforts to solve the mystery and stop the menace.

Since its release on August 15, 2024, Stree 2 has been a big hit at the box office. It made about $1 million from a special screening on August 14. On its opening day, the film earned around $6.1 million in India. By the end of its first week, it had grossed approximately $34.7 million.

As it moves into its second week, the film has already earned around $46 million in India. These numbers are early estimates and might change. Stree 2 is now the second highest-grossing Indian film of 2024, the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year, and the ninth highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.

Stree 2 Age Rating

Stree 2 has been given a U/A rating by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which means it is suitable for viewers aged 12 and above, but parental guidance is recommended for younger children. The film has a runtime of 2 hours, 29 minutes, and 29 seconds. The CBFC suggested several changes before approving the film, including removing references to certain celebrities and altering the name of a national monument.
