Aleksander Barkov, the captain of the Florida Panthers, left Game 2 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final early after being hit high by Edmonton Oilers player Leon Draisaitl. The incident occurred during the third period, and Draisaitl received a two-minute penalty for roughing.

Barkov took Draisaitl's elbow to his jaw and had to leave the game, having played 17 minutes and 47 seconds up to that point. The NHL’s Department of Player Safety will review the hit to decide if further action is needed, especially if Barkov is seriously injured.
