Bol Bol began his high school basketball career at Blue Valley Northwest High School, where he played on the junior varsity team. Midway through the season, he transferred to Bishop Miege High School but remained on junior varsity due to transfer rules, joining varsity in his second year.

As a junior, he transferred to Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, where he gained prominence as a top recruit. In his final high school season, he played for Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada. Internationally, Bol represents the United States, though he has never competed in a FIBA tournament for the team.
In the 2019 NBA Draft, he was selected with the 44th pick by the Miami Heat but was traded to the Denver Nuggets on draft day. Bol has also played for the Orlando Magic, continuing to build his professional career.

On July 18, 2023, Bol Bol signed a one-year contract with the Phoenix Suns. During the 2023–24 season, he began to show flashes of his potential.
On January 1, 2024, he delivered his best performance of the season at the time, recording 11 points and a team-high 9 rebounds in 20 minutes during a 109–88 win over the Portland Trail Blazers, despite limited playing time earlier in the season.
On February 23, 2024, Bol achieved a standout performance with season-highs of 25 points and 14 rebounds in a 114–110 loss to the Houston Rockets. On July 7, 2024, he re-signed with the Suns, continuing his journey with the team.
