Who is Nathan’s New Champion?

Patrick "Deep Dish" Bertoletti, 39, originates from Chicago. While he's not a direct successor to Joey Chestnut, he's made a name for himself as a skilled competitor in the Major League Eating (MLE) circuit for over a decade.

He's achieved 32 world records, such as devouring 47 Big Apple pizzas in just 10 minutes, 29 waffles in the same time frame, and five pounds of sour pickles in six minutes, as detailed in his profile on the MLE website. However, he hadn't managed to break the Mustard Belt record. Until Thursday, when he successfully consumed 58 hot dogs and buns in just 10 minutes.

Bertoletti, better known as "Deep Dish," shared his joy and contentment after clinching the top spot in the men's category of the tournament. He achieved a personal best by devouring 58 hot dogs and buns in just half an hour, winning his first-ever title at the event.

Bertoletti's triumph was especially significant as it was the first occasion since 2015 that the prestigious mustard belt award was claimed by someone other than Joey Chestnut. Chestnut wasn't able to participate that year because he was embroiled in a dispute over a contract.
