Edge of Tomorrow is a 2014 American sci-fi action film directed by Doug Liman, based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka's novel All You Need Is Kill. Starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, the story is set in a future where aliens occupy most of Europe.

Major William Cage (Cruise), a PR officer with little combat experience, is forced into a battle and finds himself stuck in a time loop, trying to defeat the invaders. The film also features Bill Paxton and Brendan Gleeson. Warner Bros. produced and heavily advertised the film, spending over $100 million on marketing.

Edge of Tomorrow Plot

In 2015, aliens called "Mimics" invade Europe, killing millions. By 2020, humanity forms the United Defense Force (UDF) to fight them. Major William Cage, a cowardly public affairs officer, is demoted and forced into combat. During a disastrous invasion, Cage kills an "Alpha" Mimic and gets covered in its blood, causing him to relive the day each time he dies. Cage teams up with Sergeant Rita Vrataski, who previously had the same power.

They train together to defeat the Mimics, discovering they must kill the central "Omega" Mimic. After many loops and setbacks, they locate the Omega in Paris. Cage sacrifices himself to destroy it, resetting time and eradicating the Mimics, then meets Vrataski again, smiling.
