Alita Battle Angel Plot

In the year 2563, Earth was ruined by a big war called "The Fall." Dr. Dyson Ido finds a cyborg with a human brain in a scrapyard and names her Alita. Alita has no memory and makes friends with Hugo, who wants to go to the city of Zalem. She meets Dr. Chiren, Ido's ex-wife. Alita learns "Panzer-Kunst," a fighting style for machines, and fights Grewishka, a killer cyborg.

Alita wants to be a Hunter-Warrior to learn about her past, but she does worry. She finds a powerful cyborg body and fights Grewishka again. Alita joins a Motorball race to help Hugo, but he gets in trouble with Zapan, who kills Hugo's friend and blames him. Alita saves Hugo, but he dies trying to reach Zalem. She vows revenge on Zalem's leader, Nova, and becomes famous in Motorball. Alita aims her sword at Zalem, where Nova watches.

Alita Battle Angel Release Date

Alita: Battle Angel premiered on January 31, 2019, at Odeon Leicester Square in London and was officially released by 20th Century Fox in the United States on February 14, 2019. Initially scheduled for July 20, 2018, the release date was changed multiple times.

It was first postponed to December 21, 2018, and then delayed again in late September, eventually settling on its final release date after a PG-13 version of Deadpool 2 took its place briefly. Before its general release, James Cameron announced special free previews in the United States on January 31, 2019.

The film debuted in various Asian countries such as Hong Kong, Indonesia, and South Korea on February 5, 2019, coinciding with Chinese New Year celebrations. It continued its rollout, reaching the Philippines and India in early February and concluding with releases in Japan and Mainland China on February 22, 2019. Notably, Alita: Battle Angel marked the final standalone release from 20th Century Fox before Disney acquired the studio on March 20, 2019.
