Popular news anchor and journalist Chauncey Glover has passed away. He was 39 years old. The cause of his death has not been announced yet. He was the first black male anchor at Houston’s KTRK.
Chauncy Glover joined KCAL News in October 2023. Before his current position, he worked for KTRK-TV in Houston for eight years. At KTRK, Glover began as a weekend morning anchor and was later promoted in 2018 to the main evening anchor role. Throughout his career, Glover has earned three Emmys and other professional awards.
In addition to his work in journalism, he founded The Chauncy Glover Project, a mentorship program designed to help young men.
How did Chauncy Glover Die?
Chauncy Glover's cause of death has not been disclosed. His sudden death is a shock to all including his family members.
His family wrote in a statement "We, Sherry and Robert Glover, along with Chauncy’s beloved family, are devastated by the unimaginable loss of our beloved Chauncy."
Chauncy Glover developed an early passion for news at the age of 5 when his father built him a mini "anchor desk" for his newscasts. Every Sunday after church, Glover would perform news broadcasts for his family. This childhood hobby inspired him to pursue a career in journalism.
He went on to study Broadcast Journalism, Music, and Theatre at Troy University.
Chauncy Glover has received several accolades for his work, including multiple Emmy Awards. He won three Emmys for his compelling storytelling and live reports in Detroit, as well as for his live reporting during Hurricane Harvey.
During Hurricane Harvey, Chauncy famously rescued a woman in labor and helped deliver her baby. Additionally, he earned recognition for his story "Chauncy's Journey," where he reunited with his family in his hometown of Athens, which had been devastated by tornadoes.
Glover was also named one of the Ambassadors of the Year for his community work and contributions to the youth of Detroit.
