Kadeena Cox Illness
Kadeena Cox has had a tough decade dealing with multiple sclerosis, which she was diagnosed with ten years ago. This past year has been especially hard for her, with frequent relapses and injuries.
At the Paris 2024 Paralympics, she faced a major setback when she crashed during the first turn of the 500m time trial. She was expected to win the first medal for ParalympicsGB at the Games and keep her title, but the crash made that impossible.

Kadeena Cox About Her Illness
Cox shared on Instagram, "The last two Paralympics I've woken up laid next to a medal grateful it wasn't a dream! Today feels like a nightmare I can't wake up from."
"It's hard to put into words how I feel. After everything I've battled to come back from this last year I thought this moment was going to make it worth it. All I thought about when I was pushing to try get the strength back to walk, let alone run/cycle."
"Yesterday, I learned a hard lesson in that sometimes it just doesn't happen, whether you think you deserve it or not!"
What is Kadeena Cox Disability?
Last year at this time, she couldn’t walk because a serious relapse of MS affected the right side of her body. This weakness caused her to struggle in the final.
Even though she looked strong in the qualifiers, she slipped at the start of the final. Because her right side was weak, she couldn’t correct her path and ended up crashing into the side barrier on the first turn.
According to UCI rules, she could only get a restart if there was a mechanical issue. So, Dutch rider Caroline Groot won the title instead.
Cox spent nearly 30 minutes crying on the track and took over an hour to calm down before doing an interview with Channel 4.
Does Kadeena Cox Have an Eating Disorder?
Kadeena Cox, a Paralympian and "I'm a Celebrity" star, has talked about her eating disorder to help raise awareness during Eating Disorder Awareness Week.
She first shared her story in 2019, explaining how she managed both her stroke recovery and an eating disorder. On the Prevayl: Better Begins Here podcast, Kadeena said, "Disordered eating became a big part of my life."
She went from being a top athlete to doing nothing, taking steroids, and having her mother feed her. She gained about three stone (42 pounds) in less than two months and felt like she had lost her sense of self.
Struggling with her body image, she felt MS had taken that away from her. By 2019, she realized she was harming herself by not eating for days while overtraining.
