Shaun Martin touched so many people during his life and through the beautiful immortality of music, will continue to do so. There’s so much that can be said but words can’t do justice. Shaun Martin was an American musician who played many instruments and worked as a composer, arranger, and producer. He was part of the jazz fusion band Snarky Puppy, and he also worked as the music director for Gospel singer Kirk Franklin.
Additionally, he was the Minister of Music at Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas. Martin won four Grammy Awards for his work with Kirk Franklin and three more as a member of Snarky Puppy.

He attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, then went on to Weatherford College and the University of North Texas. While still in high school, he began working with gospel choir director Kirk Franklin. Shaun earned a Bachelor’s degree from North Texas and was involved in producing and recording Erykah Badu's hit album Mama's Gun while he was still a student.

Three of these were for his work with the band Snarky Puppy, and four were for his work as a music director for Kirk Franklin. His most recent Grammy was for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album with Snarky Puppy in 2023.
