What Happened to Dylan's Rounds?
In the year 2022, Dylan Rounds who is the old farmer disappeared. Now his skeletal remains were found In a remote area in Utah. It is believed that his neighbor James Brenner who was squatting nearby murdered Dylan Rounds. Dylan's Rounds family members are grateful to the people who have found his body and continue to give justice.
From June 2022, James Brenner the suspected murderer has been in jail for firearms violations, and in 2023 he was charged with Dylan's death. James Brenner was found with guns and due to the criminal history, he was not allowed to have it.
Some evidence has been revealed from the investigations by James Brenner to Dyland’s disappearance, also including DNA on his bloody shirt. In other words, the 19-year-old boy Dylan Rounds was murdered by his neighbor James Brenner. The neighbor led the investigator to Dylan’s Burial Spot as part of a Plea Deal.
Who Was Dylan Rounds?
Dylan Rounds was a 19-year-old resident of Lucin, Utah. In the year 2022, during Memorial Day weekend he went missing. Quickly, after Dylan disappeared Authorities started suspecting Brenner. The Authorities conveyed their sadness for Dylan's family and hoped they could find peace the young man’s tragic disappearance and death have left his loved ones mourning.
What Happened to The Dylan Family?
The Dylan Family experienced the pain of 2 years of awaiting the news of their missing son Dylan. They were disappointed with the handling of the case by the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office. The Evidence linked Brenner who is their neighbor, to the vanishing of Dylan who was found near his trailer.
Near the trailer, the boots of Dylan Rounds were found, as well as his cell phone which was discovered at the bottom of a nearby pond. The neighbour James Brenner was arrested on gun charges and in July 2022, he also named a suspect. Dylan’s family expected justice but they faced delays in Brenner's trial, which caused Distress to the family members.
What Made Dylan Round's Mother Get Disappointed?
Candice Cooley, Dylan Round's Mother informed that until May 2024, the trial that the trial will not be happening due to the scheduling issue with Brenner's attorney. Cooley said "It's disappointing it takes that long," "There's nothing we can do with that, we are at the mercy of the judge. To me, it's crazy to think that an attorney could be busy until May."
In earlier 2023, Cooley said that she believed the Evidence weight in the Case should have seen prosecutors act quicker. Before finding the body of Dylan Round, Cooley worked with a team that owned forensic dogs to search for her son. She said for bringing the dogs she pleaded with Box Elder. When searching in big, countryside areas Forensic dogs are very important. especially, this is true in some cases like Dylan's, where the search is spread out and large.
She said "I lucked out when they came to me after seeing what happened to Dylan," They won't work continuously with the family in a criminal investigation. It has not happened. "But where we weren't getting help from Box Elder, they reached out to us and were like: 'Holy smokes, we need to help this family.' "It still took us a week to get them on board as they needed to be invited by Box Elder. When you're specifically looking for bodies, these dogs come in. They're amazing."
Dylan Family’s Struggle For Changes
After Dylan's disappearance, Cooley has been struggling with dealing with families with similar cases to have more support and rights from the authorities. She also favoured to get the bill of Crime Victim Amendment which was passed In Utah’s House of Representatives. She worried a lot because of focusing on the wrong information, there was a delay in the case. Due to this, she wanted to change the laws in Utah.
she said "The legislation addresses cases like Dylan's, emphasizing proactive efforts in searching for missing persons rather than waiting for evidence to surface," this law aims to prevent re-victimization, the law enforcement spreads rumors about the missing person, which was seen in the Case of Dylan. In this case "Re-victimization includes law enforcement which was publicly spreading false information about Dylan being gay and also implying he willingly left
