What Happened to Kyle Larson?
Kyle Larson, the favorite in Sunday's Iowa Corn 350 NASCAR Cup Series race at Iowa Speedway, had a promising start. He led for 81 laps, won Stage 2, and seemed poised for another victory. However, his race took a turn for the worse on Lap 219, right at the beginning of Stage 3.
Daniel Suarez's car moved up the track during a chaotic restart, with Bubba Wallace close to his left-rear quarter panel. This caused Larson's car to spin after making contact with Suarez's No. 99 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet. Denny Hamlin caught between Larson and the wall, had no room to escape, and was also involved in the crash. Larson's team worked on repairs, and though he met the damaged vehicle policy requirements, he ended up 31 laps down. Ultimately, Larson finished in 34th place, ending his hopes of a second consecutive win.
