She quickly established herself as one of the city’s top players, playing well above her age and on the boys’ teams. Reese grew up in Baltimore, Maryland where she played four years of varsity basketball for coach Jerome Shelton at St. Frances Academy. She was teammates with Nia Clouden early in her career. She started her freshman season at Maryland, mainly as a power forward, where she averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds per game. She returned to the starting lineup in her sophomore season, which she called a “redemption year” as she regained the confidence she had before her freshman injury.

Reese made her U.S. National Team debut in the 2017 FIBA United States Under-16 Women’s Americas Championship. She was named to the finalist list for the 2019 U.S. U19 World Cup team, before withdrawing to play for Nike EYBL, and made her U20 debut in the 2023 U20 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup, held in Mexico.
