Gregory James Rutherford is a retired British track and field athlete. He participated in the Olympics, World and European Championships, and the Commonwealth Games for Great Britain. In September 2021,Rutherford was selected for the British bobsleigh team.
However, he suffered an injury in the process of preparing to compete in the Winter Olympics in 2022. Rutherford's best long leaps were 8.51 meters outdoors and 8.26 meters inside, giving him the British record for both events. He won the national outdoor championship five times and the national indoor championship twice.
In an era lacking great long jumpers, Rutherford was considered as one of the greatest of his time. His distance record from Britain places him in the top 25 long jumpers in history.

Rutherford joined the Team GB bobsleigh squad in 2021 with the goal of competing in the Winter Olympics of 2022, however he was unable to meet the performance requirements.
