Mike Tyson is an American professional boxer. He was born on June 30, 1966. He is also known by the nickname 'the baddest man on the planet'. Mike Tyson is one of the greatest heavy weight boxers ofall time. He was first to won many heavy weight champion titles. Tyson was well-known for his horrific and threatening boxing technique as well as his controversial actions both inside and outside the ring.
He claimed that Sonny Liston, the boxer who is thought to be the most scary man in boxing history, was an inspiration. Bobby Stewart, who worked as a counselor at a juvenile detention center discovered Tyson's talent for boxing there, he is also a former boxer. Then, he introduced Tyson to a boxing manager named Cus D'Amato.
Mike Tyson started his professional debut at the age of 16 in the year 1986. Later he won the first title fight for World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight championship.
Tyson scared opponents with his strength, fast hands, accuracy, coordination, and timing. He learned a defensive style from Cus D'Amato. Tyson's powerful punches came from crouching before throwing, using his legs for extra force. One of his favorite moves was a body shot followed by an uppercut, which knocked down fighters like Lorenzo Boyd, Jesse Ferguson, and Jose Ribalta.
Then Tyson also defended Unified heavyweight champion against James Smith in the year 1987 and again won a gold medal after defending against Undisputed heavyweight champion.
Afterall Tyson has served less than three years in prison after being convicted of raping 18-year-old. He denied the rape but was sentenced to six years in prison and four years of probation in 1992. Then he was released in 1995 but he had to register as a Tier II sex offender according to federal law. Then Tyson made a successful return to boxing after getting out of prison and won his comeback fights.
On June 11, 2005, Tyson decided not to continue the fight before the seventh round against Kevin McBride. Tyson admitted he was not in good shape physically, and he was tired of taking boxing seriously. After losing three of his last four fights, Tyson decided to retire from boxing because he no longer felt passionate about the sport.
In March 2024, it was announced that Tyson would be fighting Jake Paul in a heavyweight boxing match.
