Who was KODA?
KODA was a famous musician from Ghana. He sang gospel songs, wrote music, produced songs, and played many instruments. He lived in Takoradi in the Western Region of Ghana. People loved his music because it was a big part of modern gospel music in Ghana. KODA won many awards for his music. He loved sharing the message of the gospel through his songs and also helped other musicians by producing their music.
KODA made music for many famous people like Danny Nettey, Ps. Joe Beechem, Nii Okai, Halal Afrika, Eugene Zuta, and others. He released 7 albums in total. He made 3 studio albums, 2 live albums, and 2 instrumental/jazz albums. Keteke was his 6th album where he sang. People know KODA for songs like Nkwaa Abodo, Nsem Pii, Adooso, and Hossana. KODA Early Life
KODA started liking musical instruments when he was very young. His mom signed him up for music lessons when he was 10 years old, and that's when he learned to play the guitar. Later, he went to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he became the director of the university's mass choir.
KODA was in charge of music and played instruments for different groups like the Music Wing of the Baptist Students Union, KNUST's Simply Jazz Crew, and God's Instruments. He was also a key member of Project, a famous Ghanaian gospel group at that time.
After finishing university, KODA helped create an amazing album called Awurade Ei for the group God's Instruments KODED Studios in Takoradi, Ghana. He worked on writing, mixing, mastering, and producing the album. It became really popular in the country and had hit songs like Awurade Ei (Se Woma Wonsa Soa), Tumi, and Onyame Ye D'awase.
KODA Career
KODA became well-known as a producer after working on Nii Okai's albums Moko Be and Gye W'ayeyi. He has collaborated with many gospel artists from both Ghana and other countries. Some of these artists include Nii Okai, Pastor Joseph Gyebi, Danny Nettey, Pastor Joe Beecham, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Joyful Way Inc., Pastor Helen Yawson, Yaw Osei-Owusu, Ike Nanor, Eugene Zuta, Jesse Jenkins, Diana Hamilton, Calvis Hammond, and many more.
KODA and his friends from Takoradi formed a music group called The Anointed. They have helped many gospel ministries in Ghana and other countries.
KODA has made four albums with singing and two albums with gospel jazz music. His first album, Nyame Beye, and second album, Waye Wie, had popular songs like Waye Wie, Zion's Song, Poma, and Amen. His third album, Black & White, had hits like Guide Me O, Nkwa Abodoo, Obiara Nte Se Wo, and a song that sparked debate, Nsem Pii.
In 2016, KODA put out an album called OXYGEN, which had songs like Adooso, Yaa Pae, and Chimo. Then, in 2021, he released his 6th singing album, Keteke. KODA also made two instructional DVDs for learning bass and lead guitar. He also released three live DVDs of his big concerts: KODA Live 2008, Black and White Live 2013, and Oxygen Live 2016.

KODA is quite private about his personal life. His parents and siblings' details were never known to the public. The details about his family background are not available in public domains. Until his death, he was married to Ewurama Dua Anto, who is also a singer. They had three children together: two sons and a daughter.
KODA Death
KODA has passed away at the age of 46. A source close to his family confirmed the sad news of his passing. The musician passed away on 21 April 2024 from an undisclosed condition. Many reports indicate that he was battling kidney disease but it is unconfirmed. Officially, his cause of death is not disclosed yet. Fans and fellow musicians have been honoring the Ghanaian gospel star with tributes.
