Will 3 Body Problem Have a Season 2?
There’s no official word yet from Netflix, but it’s highly probable. Netflix has yet to officially approve Season 2 of 3 Body Problem. Season 1 dropped on March 21. Netflix typically takes at least a month to renew shows. There’s a good chance that this will be when Netflix announces Season 2. It will only happen if Netflix execs are satisfied with the viewership stats for 3 Body Problem. According to reports, Season 1 has already gained 11 million views, meaning they should be happy getting up with Season 2. Season 2 could begin filming in mid-late 2024, with post-production taking place in the late-2025/early 2026 timeframe. However, this is all speculation at this time.
3 Body Problem Season 1
The first season of the show, which is based on the novel, begins with a scene set during the Cultural Revolution in China, in which a young girl (Rosalind Chao) watches her father murdered by the Communist Red Guard.
Now, the young girl is an adult, and she is being interviewed by a detective (Wong), who is investigating the mysterious death of scientists all over the world.
Wong's character is also being interviewed by Mike Evans (Jonathan Pryce of "Game of Thrones"), an eccentric billionaire who, as the audience learns, is in communication with an alien race known as the "San-Tis". They have three solar systems, and when one of them moves too close to a planet, the whole civilization comes to a screeching halt as the entire surface of the planet is frozen.
Since the invention of mathematics by Isaac Newton over 300 years ago, scientists have been attempting to make predictions about the interactions of three or more objects. When there are at least three planets with equal or near-equal forces of gravity, their gravitational attraction pushes and pulls against each other, plunging everything into chaos. This is what gave rise to the creation of chaos theory, which explains exactly this—the problem of the three-body system.
Like the Chinese series as well as the novels, the Netflix series deals with large-scale math and science with plenty of humorous fiction thrown in.
At the end of Season 1, viewers are left with a backstory and a big cliffhanger: The San-Ti are planning to invade Earth and populate it with humans in an effort to create a better life for themselves and their descendants. Some humans are working with them, but they live over 400 light-years from Earth and are no closer to achieving their goal.
3 Body Problem
3 Body Problem is a TV series in English and a standalone one in Chinese. The source of the show is a trilogy of award-winning science fiction novels by Chinese writer Liu Qixin. But before all of that, the 3 Body Problem was a mathematical puzzle. So before we decide whether or not 3 Body Problem gets a second season, it would be helpful to know the science behind this science fiction.
Mathematicians have been able to make predictions about the orbits of the planets, the position of the sun and the significance of the moon for thousands of years. These predictions can be made relatively easily when there are only two planetary bodies, that is, the planets, their moons and the sun.The three-body problem is caused by the fact that when there are at least three planets with equal, or nearly equal, mass, their gravitational attraction pushes and pulls against each other, throwing everything into chaos. This is what gave birth to the theory of chaos, or chaos theory.
